About Joseph Scandora:
Joseph Scandora has been developing computer software as an avocation and vocation since 1983. He graduated from DePaul University class of 1993 with a Bachelor Of Science in Computer Science, and has been specializing in database / server side development and database administration since. In Joseph's sixteen years of post-graduate career experience, he has functioned exclusively in database-centric roles, first as a server-side and middleware developer using the C language and various database APIs at Data Management Technologies, Silvon Software, and Allen Systems Group (ASG), and then as a database / data warehouse consultant at firms such as Bearing Point, Wild Oats, Great West Life, and Reed Business. The current specializaions of Mr. Scandora include MySQL database administration, Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL database development, and the LAMP stack. The databases that Joseph has worked with include Informix, Sybase, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, Progress, MySQL, ISAM, VSAM, Vax/RDB and AS400 DB2/UDB. Joe runs Debian, Ubuntu, Gentoo, Slackware Linux and MS Windows XP currently at his office.

In 2004 scandora.com was originally written in HTML 3 with server-side includes (shtml) to reduce code duplication for common page elements. In 2009 it was re-written in PHP/XHTML/CSS/XML/XSL/XSLT to provide a more flexible architecture, enabling exactly the same code to work on both development and production instances. The home page uses XML, XSL, and a PHP XSLT transformation to display the "Main Cell" which contains the services that Scandora Consulting provides and their features. The contact page is an "off the shelf" secure PHP form-mail script with CAPTCHA authentication. The downloads page was written to do a limited emulation of Apache FancyIndexing and is a PHP script that opens, reads, filters the download directory and then does XPath lookups against an XML file using PHP's SimpleXML API to populate the descriptions and icons. A wiki, weblog, and online data warehouse are in the works.
